Virtual Postpartum Doula Services

You may feel uncomfortable having a stranger come into your home to provide support, or perhaps your location would make that difficult. New parenthood can already be a time of isolation, making it difficult to open your home to caregivers. For these reasons and more, virtual support may be the right fit for your family.

We can meet for up to 2 hours at a time that works best for you. Each session would allow time to discuss your questions and provide education and resources on various newborn and postpartum topics, such as mental health, physical healing, sleep, feeding, nutrition, lactation and more.

Lactation Education & Support

As a Certified Lactation Educator (CLE) I am qualified to teach families about how lactation works physiologically, common challenges to expect, herbal supports which may assist with production, and to provide other general lactation support. If your desire is to breastfeed, I will be there to support you. I am a breastfeeding advocate, but have witnessed too many families struggle with the pressure to continue breastfeeding while their mental health is suffering. I will encourage you to make the best decision for your mental health, so if bottle feeding or combo feeding is what you decide I will fully support you. Both virtual and In-home consultations available.

About Deb

About Deb

I am passionate about walking alongside families as they transition to parenthood. I incorporate the principle of simplicity into my care with new families. This looks like nourishing meals which revitalize the digestive system, encouraging rest whenever possible, warm oil massage, and herbal support in the form of teas, baths, and body care. At the heart of my work lies a passion to meet a family exactly where they are and offer non-judgemental care. When a new parent is in tune with their intuition beautiful things happen! To be seen and to know you are not alone is invaluable. I love connecting new families to resources during the early days postpartum and beyond.

I completed my certification as a postpartum doula in 2015. In 2020, I completed an Ayurvedic Conscious Postpartum Caregiver certificate that altered my outlook on care. What new parents need is not someone to tell them what to do, (even though sometimes they may need a nudge!) but rather to walk alongside and encourage them to trust their intuition in caring for themselves and their children. What works for one family, may not work for another.

My eyes were opened to the world of Ayurveda and what happens when we hold space for new parents to discover the beauty that lies within a thriving postpartum.

Testimonials

Without doula support, it would have been an even more difficult time transitioning having to not only take care of ourselves, but our child. The help not only included physical, but also mental health while helping us take care of the little one so we could rest and truly become the best parents we could be. Deb truly exceeded expectations of a doula and was an ever greater help while we were going through the roughest time of our lives. She wasted no time in doing what she could to make things easier for us. Our little boy Leo and we had a really great connection with her, which above else, is what mattered most. Communicative, helpful, humorous, and I loved that she was always wanting to learn more from us to find better ways of assisting us. It was always a fun time with Deb around. As a postpartum doula I would recommend her to anyone needing assistance, she without a doubt, will do anything she can to help and make the lives of families easier.

Her empathy, her care of me as the new mother as much as her care of the newborn. She made sure I was fed and had my feet up to help with swelling. She made sure I was drinking water. She was a safe container for my emotions as I processed my birth story and my trauma as I processed the loss of my stillborn twin. She stepped in to care for my toddler when I couldn’t lift him due to my c section restrictions. She was invaluable and her attitude and personality makes her uniquely amazing at being a doula. She was exceptional and I wish she could live with me full time. Every new mother should be so lucky to have Deb with them in their vulnerable postpartum season.

Deb was such a gift to me! After a difficult delivery, Deb was with me as I navigated a challenging postpartum period. Deb helped me gain confidence as a new Mom and helped me understand that I needed to prioritize my health, not just my newborn’s. She checked in with my husband and cared for the health of the whole family as we adjusted to a new life as parents. Deb’s kindness, gentle approach, and fierce advocacy for the health of the whole family was the difference between struggling and thriving. I have no idea how she does it but she makes everything feel doable! I strongly recommend Deb to every new parent!

Deb, we cannot thank you enough for what you have done for our family. You are one of the warmest, most comforting people we know and you truly got us through our hardest time. We looked forward each week to your visit, your advice, and just having someone who understands what we were going through to talk to. You are truly amazing at what you do and I hope that you are able to continue to help new families as you have a special gift. Every new mom needs a “Deb”—it should be the standard of care for everyone. I feel blessed to have had you in our lives.

Cara

When I first met Deb, I was absolutely drowning in the overwhelming thing that is the 4th trimester and first time motherhood. I describe those first four months as an unmitigated disaster. With some poor breastfeeding advice and a severe tongue tie that went undiagnosed for over 3 months, my baby was losing weight, fussy from swallowing so much air, and not sleeping because she couldn’t eat much. That meant I was also not sleeping and hadn’t slept for months.

I had recently been diagnosed with a postpartum mood disorder before Deb’s first visit. Deb took excellent care of my daughter while at the same time taking excellent care of me. Deb listened to me talk and talk and talk, understood what I was going through on a level that few did, and then took my hand and showed me how to successfully incorporate motherhood into my life. She showed me how to take walks outside with my baby, showed me how to make dinner while caring for my baby, showed me it was possible to design a life that was not completely overwhelming, but rather a nice peaceful pace. Slowly I began to feel less stressed. Slowly I began to finally bond with my daughter. It doesn’t sound bad now, but at the time it was an absolute crisis. And Deb was the person who helped me through the worst. By the time our last day together came, I felt more confident in my ability to be a great Mom and my ability to be myself again – because of Deb. I will always and forever be grateful to you, Deb, for changing the course of my life when it was so incredibly hard.

We are so grateful to have had Deb’s support after the birth of our second child. My husband returned to work two weeks after I gave birth and I found myself struggling to balance the needs of a newborn and a three year old.  Deb was recommended by a friend and she was the perfect fit.  She is gentle, encouraging, and thoughtful.  Upon arrival, she checked in with me to see what would be helpful. She would often have great suggestions for how to best maximize her time and I always felt renewed after just four hours of help.  I found I was missing time alone with my older son the most, so Deb encouraged us to take a walk to the park to play and connect. We did this once a week and it was incredibly helpful.  While we were gone, Deb would often do household tasks like dishes, change my sheets, and general pick up around the house. She was incredibly skilled at newborn care and I felt very comfortable leaving her with the baby. I think of Deb often when I think about women who helped me through postpartum. Thank you Deb!
